Terms
Part A — Using this website
- Who we are. ZapBay is the trading name of Neil Formby, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Address for service: [postal address to be added]. Email: customerservice@zapbay.co.uk. "We", "us" and "ZapBay" in these terms mean Neil Formby trading as ZapBay.
- What the site is for. The site describes the ZapBay service. Nothing on it is itself an offer to rent; a rental starts when you tap to pay at a station, on the terms in Part B.
- Content. Text, images, video and the ZapBay name and logo belong to ZapBay or its licensors. You may view and share links to the site; you may not copy the content for commercial use without permission.
- Links. Where we link to other sites, we are not responsible for their content.
- Liability. We aim to keep the site accurate and available but do not guarantee it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
- Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Part B — Rental terms
1. Starting a rental
- You start a rental by tapping your phone or contactless card on a ZapBay station and paying with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a payment card. A powerbank is released to you and the rental starts at that moment.
- You must be at least 18 or have permission from a parent or guardian, and you must have a valid payment method.
- A pre-authorisation may be placed on your payment method when the rental starts. It is released or adjusted when you return the powerbank.
2. Prices
| Item | Standard price |
|---|---|
| First 30 minutes | £2.00 |
| Each additional 30 minutes or part of 30 minutes | £1.00 |
| Most you pay in any 24-hour period | £8.00 |
| Maximum rental length | 48 hours |
| Powerbank not returned within 48 hours (non-return charge) | £25.00 |
| Powerbank returned damaged | £25.00 |
If the powerbank has not been returned 48 hours after the rental started, the £25 non-return charge is taken and the powerbank is treated as purchased by you. The rental ends at that point and no further rental charges are added.
Prices are the full amount you pay. [If ZapBay registers for VAT, change to: Prices include VAT.] Payment is taken from the card or wallet you used to start the rental, when you return the powerbank or when the 48-hour limit passes.
3. Returning the powerbank
- Push the powerbank fully into any free slot at any ZapBay station until it locks. The rental ends when the station confirms the return.
- You can return it to a different station from the one you took it from.
- If you leave a powerbank anywhere other than in a station slot, it is not returned and the rental continues.
4. Looking after the powerbank
- Use the powerbank only to charge your own devices with the built-in cables. Do not open, modify, puncture, submerge or expose it to heat.
- If a powerbank is faulty, return it to a station and email us with the station location and the time; we will refund the rental.
- If it is lost, stolen or damaged while rented to you, the £25 charge applies. A powerbank not returned within 48 hours is treated as purchased by you, and the charge is not refunded if it is returned later.
5. Refunds and problems
If something goes wrong — a powerbank that did not release, a charge you do not recognise, a return the station did not register — email customerservice@zapbay.co.uk with the station location, date and time. We reply within two working days and refund where the fault is ours. Your statutory rights are not affected.
6. Availability
Stations are provided by ZapBay in partnership with the venue. We cannot guarantee that a station will have a charged powerbank or a free slot at any given time, and we may remove or move stations.
7. Our liability
Our powerbanks are certified for sale in the UK [CE/UKCA, RoHS and UN38.3 references to be confirmed with the supplier]. We are not liable for damage to a device caused by using the powerbank contrary to section 4, or for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited under UK law.
8. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. We may update these terms; the version on this page at the time you start a rental is the one that applies to it.
